Consistent Downspout Placement
Installing in a consistent uniform way makes for a quality finished product.
All downspouts must be installed one downspout width from the corner post, which would be 3 or 4 inches, whether using a 2×3 or 3×4 downspout.
Here is an example of what not to do:
One job, three different downspouts, all in different locations. (and one is crooked)
These should have all been installed 3 inches from the corner post. Use a downspout to put between the post and and where the downspout strap goes, so everything is consistent and straight.
Caveats
Downspouts can’t always be installed one downspout from the corner post. There are times when they will need to be placed elsewhere. Such as:
- A homeowner requested they go on the corner post.
- They need to be installed where old downspouts were removed to cover up the stain on the siding.
- There’s something in the way.
- Many others…
There is not one thing that makes for a quality job, but 100 things, 100 small things. It’s the small stuff that matters.
